Gerokgak, 16 April 2023-The export season for milkfish seeds every year is a season that entrepreneurs/farmers really look forward to. This year's milkfish/nener seed export season has started from the beginning of last February. The demand for milkfish seeds during this period will increase sharply followed by an increase in the price of seeds per head so that farmers will try their best to increase their productivity.
The key or central point of milkfish hatchery which greatly determines the productivity and quality of the milkfish seeds produced is the natural feed, namely in the form of Plankton and Rotifera. Plankton and Rotifera are very vulnerable to being influenced by weather factors, especially at this time in Bali, especially the Gerokgak area which is the center of milkfish cultivation, the weather is uncertain so that most of the natural food for farmers is damaged.
The damage to natural feed does not only occur at the farmer's level, but also in the hatchery owned by CV. Putra Bahari Milk Fish Bali has also been damaged by this unfriendly weather. This damage to natural feed has resulted in a decrease in the productivity of the milkfish seeds produced because the harvest time should be 16 to 18 days but currently the seeds are 20 days old and cannot be harvested yet. The quality of milkfish seeds produced in recent times has also decreased, especially in terms of size uniformity. Most of them are blantik or non-uniform and many are still refined, thus increasing the risk of seed death when shipped.
Buyers of milkfish seeds, both at the level of suckers, collectors and suppliers, will continue to try to meet the demand received, even though they have to fight each other to buy farmers' crops so that sometimes milkfish seeds that are not ready to be harvested are forced to be sent.
To meet incoming customer demand, in addition to the hatchery's own production, most of them buy crops from farmers. CV. Putra Bahari consistently maintains the quality and quantity of milkfish seeds sent to buyers. Therefore, in the midst of damaged natural food conditions for farmers, currently CV. Putra Bahari will usually buy milkfish seeds several rupiahs more expensive than other buyers as a form of reward for farmers because they still want to try to produce quality seeds both in terms of filling and uniformity of size according to the standards set by the company. Even though they could have forced the harvest and it still sold well to be sold to other buyers.
Therefore the selling price of CV. Putra Bahari is sometimes a few rupiahs more expensive than other sellers because CV. Putra Bahari has to pay more to maintain the quality of the milkfish seeds sent.
CV.Putra Bahari hopes that the milkfish rearing cultivators, both for tuna bait and up to consumption size, will get good yields and CV. Putra Bahari believes and believes that cultivators will also look for good quality seeds in terms of bag filling and size uniformity without being tempted by the cheaper price of milkfish seeds and the quality is unclear.
How can the yields be good if when the seeds are just sown the seeds are lacking in terms of the contents of the bags and the sizes that are spread are still many which are fine, of course they will not be able to adapt to the cultivation environment. Do not let the difference in the price of a few rupiahs of seeds sacrifice resources in vain in one cultivation period.
Hopefully this unfriendly weather will soon pass and give a glimmer of hope to return to seek fortune and livelihood for our reanan fighters
